How Boston Sports News covers Greater Boston sports

Boston Sports News covers high school and youth sports across Greater Boston and Massachusetts. This page explains how we work, so readers can judge our coverage for themselves.

Who we are

Boston Sports News is a section of Boston Athletic Training (BAT), a training facility in Newton. We say so on every page. Stories are published under the name Boston Sports News; we do not invent bylines or reporter names.

Sourced reports

When a story is based on someone else's reporting, we say so in the text and link the original under Sources. If we did not attend an event, we say that too. We do not publish quotes we did not hear or obtain, and we do not invent statistics, rankings or results.

News vs. analysis vs. guides

• News reports what happened, with sources.
• Guides explain how to find or understand information, such as official rankings.
• Analysis or opinion, when we publish it, is labeled as such.

Dates

Every story shows its publication date. When we change a story after publishing, we show an updated date. For game coverage, we list the date of the game separately from the date we published.

Recruiting

We only report recruiting news, such as offers or commitments, when it has been announced by the athlete, the school or the college program. We do not report rumors.

Ownership and independence

Buying training, packages or programs from BAT does not affect whether or how anyone is covered. Coverage in Boston Sports News, and training at BAT, does not guarantee recruitment, offers or playing time.
